A Dog called Öve

Somebody is six today

The first post is the hardest, yes?

I am writing about a dog because that seems the logical place to start.

Öve the working cocker spaniel is six years old today; OK that’s not six years since we have owned him, but it is still a significant date and sounds better than five years, eight months and twenty five days, or the 299 weeks that have flown by since that fateful wintery day we picked him up aged 14 weeks; and he changed our lives for the better.

That day was Wednesday 13th December 2017; a little over 2000 days ago.

Well, you can do a lot in 2,094 days; in fact to be exact, You can Do Anything.

I am launching this space today, because of Öve; he has inspired me for the last six years, he is the reason I am sat here on a Wednesday writing at home, without a care in the world (almost). He is the inspiration for my creativity; he is the excuse for my ramblings, he is everything that was missing in 2017, he has been and will continue to be the reason I am where I am.

And my substack is going to be the outlet for all of that content, Öve may have brought me here, but I hope to in turn inspire others to fulfil their true potential by sharing what I have learnt along the way.

Don’t worry its not all about dogs, its actually all about you.

Things I will write about will include (in no particular order); telling my story of reinvention, my own mental health, dealing with anxiety, ageism and learning, a sense of belonging, how to help yourself, being part of a growing business, helping other people at work, sustainability, winning awards, how others can help with your wellbeing, how a dog can play a role, technology, the pet food industry, social media, the great outdoors, Yorkshire, the media industry, having fun in the workplace, not having fun in the workplace, and many other things.

The community we will build will be all about sharing and inspiring; helping each other to be better; my motivation is to help others avoid some of the issues I have faced, and most importantly share positivity and love, rather than some of the other more negative forums that I will continue to shrink away from

I will post once a week, probably on a Friday morning, however short or long, we will review things after a couple of months.

I won’t expect any payment for any content; that’s something we can look at in the future.

Öve is the inspiration, and today is all about him.
